The first hole on the Tamaki Course is the shortest Par 4 on the property, but might just be the most strategic with a number of options to choose from.

There are water hazards that run parallel to both sides of the hole. The further down the hole one plays, the narrower the playing area becomes, and the hazards come more into play. A hybrid or mid iron off the tee is a smart play, but before deciding on were to position the tee shot, it will be important to check which side of the green the pin is located. This is because your angle into this green for your second shot will need to be favorable if you are to be able to get it close.

If you don’t pick the right option here a large fescue covered landform and bunker complex that sits in the middle of the fairway and front of the green will block your view to the pin.
